The Process of Divorce
I'm looking for some nuts-and-bolts info. about the process of divorce. If STB-ex and I agree on the terms, and file, what happens next? Do we have just one court date in front of a judge? Does anyone need to be there other than the two of us? With a child involved, if we agree to a parenting plan, is it that cut and dried? Basically, I'm trying to find out if this process can be eased if the two parties agree on all the terms, because it looks like that's where we'll be. I think we can avoid lawyers, so will one be assigned to us?
mother of addict
my son is a heroin addict. has anyone had any experiences with a drug called suboxone?
All my blood tests came back
First...all I know about the DUI thing is that blood came back a .01.
Basically, I have Stage 2 Hypertension (at age 33!) I'm on some strong medication and I have to get very, very serious about losing weight. They're recommending 100 pounds!!! Atkins and exercise here I come.
I'm borderline Type 1 Diabetes. Again, can be controlled by massive weight loss.
My liver functions came back normal. Can you imagine? After all the drinking I did, I only inflamed my liver; no fatty, no cirrohsis. She said it would be perfectly back to normal in 3-4 months. I really dodged a bullet here.
My kidneys, electrolytes, and pancreas are all operating within normal functions.
Basically, The HP saved me. No more alcohol ever again. Despite what the cops say, I have been sober since January and my body is coming back together.
In the midst of my craziness, there was some good news this week.
Thanks SR!

Was/Is anyone else vindictive?
i have come to realize by reading all about co-dependancy and alcoholics that i actually was crazy when i lived with my AH. I let him drive me crazy, but I wonder if anyone else was "crazy" like me
see when my husband would pass out, it would bug me and i would either get bored or vindictive, whatever you want to call it and would bug him while he was passed out
examples--
say he would pass out in the living room floor, i would then take off his shirt if he had one on, then turn the air up really high and hide his blanket, yes i know it was mean :c043: so then he would wake up in the middle of the night freezing and i would pretend to be dead asleep or would tell him he must of done something with the blanket lol
he would pass out on the couch, in the chair, whereever, i would then get a permanent marker and write stuff on his face :e058: then take a picture of him- again i know it was mean, and childish, but funny, he never got mad about it, usually laughed about it the next day, except one time he woke up in a hurry to go to work and when he got to work, his buddies started laughing at him and showed him what i done lol, but even then he didnt really get mad, he just told his buddies i was a nutcase and got bored when i couldnt sleep lol
when he drank vodka, i would pour some out then add water, and got away with it for a while, til he put it in the freezer and it froze :e136:
ive done other things but i wont go into them , yall get the point, i was bored couldnt sleep and he was passed out and it annoyed me what can i say, am i the only one who would mess with their drunks when they were passed out? and it wasnt all vindictive, im a naturally sneaky and playful person, im always playing jokes on folks, but sometimes you just get tired of them being passed out every single night my way of coping i guess

Need Help - Alcoholic Mother How to Handle
I'm an adult child of an alcoholic mother. I'm in my 30's now and she is in her 60's. I primarily grew up with my grandparents, I have never had an addiction problem, but I am definitely a codie.
I go to Alanon and I'm trying to deal with my mother. She has never shown much interest in me and seems to go out of her way to be mean to me.
I am a responsible person, successful career, etc. but no matter what I do it doesn't seem good enough for her.
My issue, I haven't seen my mom in two years. I called her to tell her I was flying in town and I wanted to see her. I rented a hotel, etc. The minute I landed in the airport, she called me and said she was "too busy" to see me. She wasn't seeing anyone till after the New Year. She was sober when she called.
My mom is retired, never goes anywhere, etc. I was hurt and upset. I told her I just landed at the airport and it was ridiculous.
Anyhow, she has done this before. I'm at the point to wash my hands of her and stop trying to have a relationship with her. I feel guilty, I'm her daughter, and I would like to have a mom. My father is dead.
Has this happened to you? If so what should I do? Walk away? I seriously doubt she will ever get sober.
Thanks for listening.

1 year sober and I feel I can drink responsibly…advice
OH MY GOD...i just typed an entire page TWICE and it got deleted TWICE...
The short version is, I'm a year sober, worked the 12 steps w/a sponsor, and a regular AA/NA meeting attendee...
But in my span of using, I never once met the criteria for alcoholism. Pot was my DOC. I took a year off college to get sober and I would love to have a few "cold ones" with my (non-drug using) buddies when I get back.
Problem is, my parents are paying for college. My mom is in Al-Anon and has explicitly told me "You can't drink because you're an alcoholic." Which honestly made me a bit mad because I don't feel that's true.
My sponsor said, "Try the controlled drink experiment as outlined in the BB. If it works, more power to you, you're not alcoholic. But if you're high for the whole week after that, I better see you back in the program."
In my quest to be totally honest and transparent with my family, I really want to tell them how I feel, but at the same time if I bring up this idea I'm worried that they'll cut off my education.
Any advice?

Opiate Addiction (HELP)
Hello, i am new to the forums. Unfortunately i am one of the young and foolish who had messed around with drugs but took it to a whole 'nother level. Ever since i was 14 i was doing drugs. First started with being a rare occurance to nearly a daily thing within 3 months. Ever since it became a daily occurance i experimented with new things. Started to only spend my money on vicodin. Now i am 16 years old. Just realized how badly i was wrecking my life, my family, and my friends. I have removed myself from my group of "friends" that let me take it to that level. As of 10/7/08 i have been clean. Unfortuneately i have went cold turkey and it is not going well at all. Days are going slow and long. Often i feel lost in my own house. Aches and pains/nausea. Keep getting the munchies. Cannot sleep and constant angry outbursts over stupid things when i know they are stupid. I also cannot remember a lot at all(Is that normal? have not seen it anywhere else) It is hard for me to keep busy when in the condition i am. Currently take a multivitamin, drink OJ, and try to eat healthy foods. Any advice, please i really need any help with anyone with prior experiences. Although i am very concerned that i cannot remember much about anything and it is hard for me to communicate and think straight as you may tell from this post. Thanks for the help in advance.
