Hi ladies,
I came across a bit more info about hormones in relation to alcohol withdrawals. I found it helpful. It explains some of my experiences since I became sober. This information is from "Under The Influence" :
"One of the most confusing aspects of alcoholism is that the alcoholic is most sick, not when he drinks, but when he stops drinking. His body has adapted to the constant presence of alcohol--his cells are accustomed to functioning with alcohol as their major source of energy and stimulation and as an antidote for the ever present toxicity.
Thus, when the alcoholic stops drinking, all hell breaks loose. Blood vessels constrict, cutting down on the flow of blood and oxygen to the cells. The blood glucose level drops sharply and remains unstable. The brain amines serotonin and norepinephrine decrease dramatically. Hormones, enzymes, and body fluid levels fluctuate erratically. The body's cells are malnourished and toxic from long exposure to large doses of alcohol and acetaldehyde."
This applies to males and females. However, I thought it would be especially helpful here on the women's forum since we notice any changes in our hormones daily/monthly.

How long
Just wondering if anyone has any time tables on how long it takes for crack users to start getting their brains cells to start working again? I know that sounds silly, but you know what I mean!!! Ad has been in jail now for three weeks and I was just wondering when the brain starts to heal. I still have not heard from her but have been told that she has been taken to doctor. She is fine and was told that she is expecting twins and they are due in Dec. I am still raising her two kids. We are fine. God help the little babies. She goes before the judge on Oct. 14 to find out her sentence. Everyone else thinks the judge will let her out. I am not so sure. Guess we'll see. Love to all.

Of exA. He was finally arrested for harassment. Kept in cells for 14 hours and told if he ever contacts me again he will be charged.
He told the police that he didn't think I would mind the 40 emails and 15 phone calls a weekend that threatened to wreck my life, have social services investigate me and kill me would bother me. Is he crazy as well as an alcoholic? Do I care? nope
