sharing your worst hangovers
One thing that has really been keeping me sober is reminding myself of the worst of times rather than the best of times drinking. Although after only a little over a week of being sober my old drinking mind (separate from the currently sober one) is quickly trying to convince me the bad times were never really that bad. So I will be writing my worst hangover to remind myself...If its not too much to ask could you share yours with me too? These types of things really help to reinforce another of the reasons why I am staying sober.
My own worst hangover:
My last bender was about 2 weeks ago now and pretty much led to the reason for me wanting to clean myself up. It started on a friday. I was only going to have a couple beers with a good friend and it turned into an all night bender that ended with my calling in for saturday school and missing out on the extra pay I usually get for it. I woke up the next day after only about 4 hours of sleep (I can never sleep properly when I drink). My stomach ached, I was dizzy, had a bit of the shakes. I didnt have work for the next 2 days so I figured might as well go back to drinking. So I drank a few beers while I cleaned my house and then another friend called to go out again that night. I figured why not and showed up after already finishing a 6 pack that day. Drank with him and some girls we met. I am totally unsure of the volume consumed. Stumbled home and slept another 4 hours. Woke up and made sunday a day I just myself in and drank beer and vodka all day. I kept faling asleep for 2 hours at a time and then waking up to drink more. This lasted till 5 am and then I had to go to work.
I never drink at work so I pretty much spent my whole day coming down from my drunkenness. Hungover, depressed, full of anxiety, with the shakes, teaching a class of kindergartners. What a winner right? I felt like a pathetic mess (which I was), and my insides felt even worse. Afterward I signed on here and have been sober, but I felt aches and bloating for the next 3 days after.

Temptaions
I'm sure you all have temptations. So I thought I'd start this thread so we can all talk about it, and share with each other how we said "NO!"
My temptation today came from my neighbor. He didn't know that I quit drinking, and started going to AA. He came over to bum a cig from me. Told me he'd trade me a couple beers for a cig! Oh boy! 10 days ago, I'd have been happy to do it! What a deal! TWO beers for one cig!?!?! But I quickly told him my decision to stop drinking. He apologized and said he'd have never offered if he had known. It was kinda funny, the look on his face was one like he had just ran over my dog.
A good person is an old drinking buddy that finds out you are sobering up, and does all in their power to not tempt you! Definition of an a$$hole...an old drinking buddy that finds out you are sobering up, and brings you a beer to celebrate!
